This year’s Pancake Supper is February 13 from 4:00-7:00pm in the Parish Hall. This gives those who eat early the chance to join in.
The cost is $7 per person, $2 under age 10. Babes in arms are free. In addition, we ask you to bring a non-perishable food item for our Food Bank.
This is a wonderful time for you to bring family and friends and spend a great social evening in celebration of the start of the Lenten Season.
Shrove Tuesday is your celebration, and it takes the whole congregation to make it a noteworthy event. There are sign-up sheets on the tables in the Parish Hall for you to offer your assistance in making this event successful. Your help is particularly needed this year as some of the regulars from past years are not here or not able to be of assistance this year.
As in the past, palm fronds or crosses from past years will be collected that evening. They are traditionally burned to provide ashes for Ash Wednesday.
If we are lucky, there is a very special singer in our congregation (initials EH) who could be persuaded to lead all in the singing of “Ode to the Pancake.”
This is a fun event and even more special when we all join in together. It makes a special beginning to the Easter season.
