Love Mercy, Do Justice

Dates: Saturday, May 4, 2013 – 10:00am – 4:00pm

Location: St. Luke’s Church, Seattle

Full description:Through a grant from the Sunflower Foundation and support from the Jubilee and Economic Justice committees of the Diocese of Olympia, a one-day conference entitled Love Mercy, Do Justice will be held at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Seattle, May 4, 10-4 pm. The purpose of the conference is to gather groups from congregations of those involved in charity and relief work and help us all move together toward action for social justice. The day is open to all those committed to justice and peace. We anticipate gathering 75-100 members of the diocese in teams from different churches to engage the connection between works of mercy and the larger call to work for justice. Video presentations from a number of voices will be available before and during the conference to set the context. A panel of presenters will share their stories and all participants will be encouraged to share theirs in an effort to move each of us to a more committed stance in support of a just society. Small groups and workshops will explore a number of topics. A worship service prior to the start of the conference and a social hour following will complete the day’s activities.
